I weave tapestry and stories for the same reason. The
pictorial and narrative themes of both arts appeal to me. I have had
the great good fortune to attend workshops given by Jean-Pierre
Larochette and Marcel Marois.
My weaving style is a blend of Aubusson and Gobelin with a
little Norwegian and Navaho technique thrown in to confuse my friends
in the anthropology department. I usually weave from the back.
My looms vary, the only constants are my home built simple
frames and adjustable tension sketch loom made of copper pipe and my
Ashford Tapestry Loom designed by Rowena Hart.
My work is in several private collections, has been seen at
Convergence Small Format Tapestry shows and interior Alaskan art
galleries.
In addition to weaving in my studio, I teach
Tapestry workshops through the Fairbanks Weavers' and Spinners' Guild.
